Convert DWG to PDF, free and in your browser
Open a DWG drawing, choose what to print, and save it as a PDF. No AutoCAD, no sign-up, and your drawing is never uploaded.
How to convert a DWG to PDF
- Open the converter and drop your DWG file onto the page (or click to choose it).
- The page lists everything that can be printed: each layout (sheet) in the file, plus the model drawing.
- Tick the sheets you want. Choose black and white or colour.
- Click Download PDF. Several sheets can be saved as one combined PDF or as separate files.
What gets printed
Layouts are printed as they appear in the file, at their own sheet size, the way a plotted drawing set looks. If a file has no layouts, or you want the model space, Smart plot finds the separate drawings in the model and leaves out stray marks, so you do not get a tiny drawing in a huge empty page.
You can open a larger preview of any sheet to zoom in, switch layers on and off, and measure distances before you save.
Black and white or colour
Black and white prints every line in black with its lineweight, like a monochrome plot style, which is the usual choice for issue drawings. Colour keeps the colours used in the drawing.
Paper size
Layouts keep their own sheet size. Under More options you can instead fit a sheet to A4, A3, A2 or A1. Model drawings are fitted to the paper you choose.
Things to check before you rely on the PDF
- Lettering. The AutoCAD fonts are not installed on this site, so text uses a similar single-stroke font. Letter shapes can differ slightly from an AutoCAD plot. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Arabic text is drawn with the fonts on your own device and placed in the PDF as a sharp picture, so it looks right but cannot be selected or searched.
- Linked drawings (xrefs). If the drawing links to other DWG files, drop them in together with the main file. Missing links are listed and left blank.
- Unsupported objects. Embedded OLE objects and tables are not drawn, and multi-lines are approximated. The page tells you when a sheet contains these.
- Always compare an important sheet against the original before you send it out.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no file limit apart from what your browser can handle.
Is my drawing safe?
The drawing is read and converted on your own computer. It is not sent to any server. See the privacy policy. The source code is public, so anyone can check this.
Which DWG versions work?
We have tested files from AutoCAD R14 up to the current 2018-format files. Very old or damaged files may not open, and you will see a message if so.
Do I need AutoCAD?
No. This works in any modern browser. See also how to open a DWG without AutoCAD.
Can it convert DXF files?
Yes, the model drawing. See DXF to PDF.
